Idaho LAUNCH & WIOA Program FAQ
Common questions about how our live, virtual, instructor led training works.
How does your virtual training program work?
Our programs are live, instructor-led, and hands-on. Students work directly with instructors in real time through Zoom supervision, close-up visual review, guided demonstrations, milestone evaluations, and live model training.
Students are not simply watching videos independently. Training includes:
- live instructor supervision
- hands-on practice
- observation training
- milestone evaluations
- real-time correction
- ongoing mentorship
How do students practice hands-on skills virtually?
Students begin with observation training before independently performing procedures.
Depending on the specialty, students progress through structured learning phases such as:
- paper mapping and stroke practice
- mannequin head practice
- fake skin procedures
- supervised live model work
For example, microblading students typically:
- Learn mapping and stroke patterns on paper
- Progress to fake skin practice
- Complete required repetitions
- Then graduate into live model procedures under instructor supervision
How are students evaluated before working on live models?
Students must demonstrate competency before progressing into live model work.
Instructors evaluate:
- sanitation and setup
- tool handling
- hand positioning
- mapping and symmetry
- placement techniques
- pressure control
- troubleshooting
- client safety
- overall technical consistency
Students are required to complete minimum benchmark repetitions during each milestone phase before advancing.
How many practice procedures are required?
Students complete required hands-on repetitions throughout each phase of the curriculum before advancing to the next milestone.
Examples may include:
- completing five full lash sets on a mannequin head followed by five full lash sets on live models
- completing five full microblading brow procedures on paper practice sheets followed by five full procedures on fake skin, completing supervised live model procedures under instructor guidance
- additional milestone requirements depending on the specialty being trained
Students must demonstrate both completion of the required repetitions and instructor-approved competency in technique, sanitation, safety, and consistency before progressing into the next phase of training.
How do instructors supervise students virtually?
Instructors supervise students live in real time through Zoom and close-up visual review technology.
This allows instructors to:
- zoom into the student's work
- monitor placement and symmetry
- provide immediate correction
- troubleshoot technique
- guide students step-by-step throughout procedures
The close-up visual review often provides an extremely detailed level of feedback similar to microscope-level visibility.
What safety and sanitation training is included?
Safety and sanitation are a major part of the curriculum from the beginning.
Students are trained in:
- sanitation procedures
- workstation setup
- cross-contamination prevention
- proper tool handling
- client preparation
- waiver procedures
- troubleshooting
- safety protocols before progressing to live models
Students must receive instructor approval before advancing.
Do students work on live models?
Yes. After students demonstrate competency on practice materials and receive instructor approval, they progress into live model work under direct instructor supervision.
Students continue completing live model procedures throughout the curriculum while receiving ongoing mentorship and correction.
What happens if a student needs help between classes?
Students have direct access to instructors and the school through an interactive communication platform where they can:
- upload pictures and videos
- ask questions
- receive feedback
- communicate directly with instructors between classes
This allows students to continue receiving support throughout the learning process.
Are the programs self-paced?
Programs offer flexible scheduling, but students still progress through structured milestone phases and instructor evaluations. Students advance by demonstrating competency and completing required benchmarks.
How does this compare to a traditional weekend certification class?
Our milestone-based training structure focuses on repetition, mentorship, supervision, and progressive skill development over time.
Rather than relying solely on a short two-day or weekend-style class format, students repeatedly practice techniques, receive ongoing correction, refine their skills, and build confidence step-by-step before advancing.
This approach often creates stronger long-term retention, technical consistency, and real-world readiness.
Do students receive one-on-one support?
Yes. Students work directly with instructors throughout training and receive individualized feedback, correction, mentorship, and supervision during both practice and live model work.
How are students prepared for real-world client work?
Students are trained not only in technical skills, but also in:
- client consultations
- waivers
- sanitation setup
- before-and-after documentation
- troubleshooting
- client communication
- overall professional workflow
What is the overall goal of the training programs?
Our focus is not simply certification.
Our goal is to help students develop:
- competency
- confidence
- professionalism
- safety awareness
- technical consistency
- workforce readiness
We are committed to creating supportive, accessible, and hands-on training opportunities for students across Idaho.
For students interested in additional hybrid support, we also offer optional in-person training opportunities throughout different areas of Idaho. Please contact our school directly for more information regarding instructor availability, scheduling, and regional hands-on support options.
